Testimonials
“Juliet is a wonderfully detail oriented editor and I have been lucky to work with her on my book manuscript and numerous journal article length projects. Grammar and copy editing is something I struggle with and Juliet has always provided graceful, competent, and kind support and editing that affirms my ideas and pays attention to writing style and tone. She is well versed in theory from a variety of fields, especially in the area of ethnic studies, and therefore can also wade through complex passages of writing and edit for clarity without taking away the nuance of the theoretical arguments being made. I cannot recommend Juliet more highly!”
-Assistant Professor Bayley Marquez, University of Maryland
“Juliet is a generous editor with crucial insight and makes your words clearer, more impactful, and rich. She is mindful of the writing stage at hand and can provide effective surface edits to more deep analytical and structural edits--whichever your project demands. Her strengths in theory make her an excellent editor for theoretical scholarship. Juliet is a seasoned professional and a pleasure to work with.”
-Assistant Professor Caitlin Keliiaa, UC Santa Cruz
“Juliet is a thoughtful and flexible editor, a joy to work with. As my needs for an editing project shifted, we were able to easily realign the time she spent providing feedback on my work. Juliet's copyediting approach provided succinctness and clarity at the sentence level, with keen attention to the broader development of argument within the empirical piece as a whole. Juliet's feedback is superb in form and content.”
-Assistant Professor Theresa Stone, Sonoma State University
“Juliet is as warm as she is brilliant. An incisive thinker, astute editor and imaginative writer she guides her clients through the revision process with ease and grace. Whether editing a blog post, policy report or academic article Juliet finds ways to capture your thoughts in elegant and precise language and encourages you to find your written voice. Juliet never fails to find ways to make my writing more effective and the editing process less painful! I cannot recommend her enough.”
-Dr. Ina Kelleher, Common Justice, American Council of Learned Societies
“Juliet is clear, direct, detail-oriented and thoughtful in her approach to editing. She has the unique capacity to zoom out and think about the big picture, while also zooming in to make sure complex ideas are delivered with intentionality, succinctness, and care. Did I mention she's a pleasure to work with? I would highly recommend her to meet your editing needs - whether it is at a developmental or copy editing stage!”

Developmental Editing
As a developmental editor, I help writers organize and clarify their ideas. I have worked with a range of clients in academia and nonprofits looking to refine a dissertation chapter, journal article, full-length book, or blog post. I specialize in thoughtful and supportive feedback that aligns to the needs of the author, intent of the piece, and stage of the writing process.
Copyediting
As a copyeditor, I bring an eye for detail, many years of rigorous grammar training, and an attentiveness to the shifting politics of language. I am well versed in the traditional rules of English grammar and various style guides (specializing in APA and Chicago), and have many years of experience working with writers dominant in language repertoires other than English.
Writing
As a writer I work across genres, with training both in traditional academic writing as well as creative fiction. I have ghostwritten material for labor unions and nonprofits, and am able to tailor the tone and language for a variety of audiences and purposes. I am also familiar with collaborative writing and co-authorship, and well able to work together with other writers and stakeholders.
Indexing
As a detail-oriented and analytic reader, I am trained in filtering and organizing work by implicit and explicit content. I have read multiple technical books on indexing and am deeply familiar with the practice across various genres and disciplines. Additionally, I am able to manage quick deadlines for indexing work necessary to meet a publisher’s deadline.
